Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Canada Officially Begins Operation
In the heart of Canada's entertainment scene, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has recently undergone an audio system upgrade, thanks to a collaboration between Clair Global and local AV firm, Branch AV. The new 1 SOUND sound system, featuring the Cannon C6 marine speakers and Level L38 loudspeakers, has transformed the guest experience from the moment they step out of their cars.
The Cannon C6 marine speakers, 6.5-inch coaxial loudspeakers with a 1-inch silk dome high-frequency driver, are installed on the exterior of the building. These speakers offer quality sound in a compact box, making them ideal for music playback. They are colour-matched to the building and equipped with custom-painted C-Clamps, outdoor-rated hardware, SS316 marine-grade materials, and sealed cable glands, ensuring durability and suitability for marine environments.
Inside the Council Oak Stage, discreet Level L38 loudspeakers have been installed. These speakers provide the SPL and punch needed for live music while blending seamlessly into the space. The L38 speakers installed less than eight inches off the wall are matched precisely to the wall for a clean look.
The Cannon C6 speakers, known for their extended low frequency response, high SPL output, and clear projection, are suitable for commercial entertainment environments like casinos and hotels. They deliver high-fidelity studio monitor sound with a maximum SPL of 114 dB at 1 meter and can handle 240 watts program power.
While specific details about the Level L38 loudspeakers are not readily available, they are praised by Jason Wakeford, project manager at Branch AV, for their seamless integration and great sound. Inside the Council Oak Stage, each Level L38 loudspeaker is paired with a SUB310 subwoofer that is hidden in the ceiling to maintain the aesthetic.
The system had to meet Hard Rock's global standards without overwhelming the space. NV5 served as the project consultant for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's audio system installation. The result is a system that feels intentional, whether there's a band on stage or just background music playing during dinner service.
The 1 SOUND sound system was previously used in other Hard Rock properties, and was chosen due to the designers' trust in the sonic clarity and visual design of their products. Twenty-five Cannon C6 speakers are installed on the exterior to create a consistent, high-energy sound. The SUB310 subwoofers in the Council Oak Stage are hidden in the ceiling to maintain the aesthetic.
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's Council Oak Stage also features Level L38 loudspeakers for flexibility and to preserve the upscale restaurant feel on quieter nights. This stage is designed to host small bands, dueling pianos, and other live acts, providing an immersive audio experience for guests.
